Beach Trash Report, Monday, Sept. 26, 2016

Dateline: Santa Monica Beach between the Santa Monica Pier and Ocean Park, in Santa Monica, Calif. Monday morning, Sept. 26, 2016... during the ongoing heat wave we took an opportunity this morning to walk the beach along the water line to take photos of the abundance of beach trash uncollected by the City of Santa Monica between the water line and the berm.  This is a continuing issue that the City of Santa Monica continues to ignore much to the disgust of beach goers and the undersigned.

It's been 9 plus days since the Heal the Bay Coastal Clean Up and the beach along the water line is looking like it never happened.

Here are the photos to prove it.

Stick a fork in it... this beach is filthy!...

We tossed these bottles below in a trash can on the beach...

In spite of all of the beach trash between the water line and berm, it was a beautiful morning...

Is it acceptable for the City of Santa Monica to shirk its civic responsibility to its citizens to clean up the trash between the water line and berm?  Of course not.  The department that is supposed to be cleaning up the beach is tasked with the responsibility of hand picking up the trash between the water line and the berm and they continue to not do so.  So I guess we will just have to keep on documenting their neglect.

On a positive note, just take a look at how beautiful the ocean was this morning...  Wow!...

Respectfully submitted,
