Clean Beach Report: Monday, November 7, 2016

Dateline: Monday morning, November 7, 2016 on the south side of the Santa Monica Pier. At approximately 8:30 a.m., I arrived at the beach and observed, for the first time ever, a two man crew from the City of Santa Monica's sanitation dept. on the berm cleaning up the #beachtrash down to the water's edge!!!  What a pleasant surprise.  Thereafter, at approximately 9:30 a.m., I took a walk from the Santa Monica Pier to Ocean Park and back and discovered that the beach was, indeed, CLEAN!  #Wow!  #Fantastic!

Just yesterday (Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016) in our audit we chronicled how filthy the beach was between the Pier and Bay St.  The used/soiled diaper was removed, the multiple plastic bottles and glass bottles, including the six pack of Corona beer glass bottles at Bay St. were removed and disposed of.

What a tremendous relief and thrill it was to walk this beach along the shoreline without an accumulation of #beachtrash.

Let's hope it lasts!... and that the City Sanitation Dept. will begin regularly walking along the water's edge and hand picking up the #beachtrash that accumulates each and every day!  #Bravo!

We are tremendously encouraged to see the beach so clean this morning and to have observed that it was a two man crew from the City of Santa Monica's sanitation dept. hand picking up #beachtrash.  Let's hope this effort continues.  We are mindful, however, that even this past week we observed a clean beach along this same stretch of the shoreline as we reported on November 2, 2016... thereafter, and for the balance of this past week culminating yesterday with a horror story of accumulated #beachtrash, we are thus unable to be confident in the City regularly cleaning up the shoreline.
