Wed., Sept. 20, 2017: Santa Monica Beach Trash Report

The Highlights... (aka, the Top Five #BeachTrash and #DeadBird Photos)...

Dateline: Wednesday morning, September 20, 2017, along Santa Monica State Beach between the Santa Monica Pier and down to the border with Venice and back... Here are the photos of the accumulated #beachtrash near the water's edge which the City of Santa Monica has not bothered to hand pick or otherwise dispose of properly...  This is NOT a clean beach!...

Even though I would rather have a bottle in front of me instead of a frontal lobotomy, this is still #beachtrash above and below that remains uncollected by the City of Santa Monica on a daily basis near the water's edge...

Below, this appears to be lumber from the Santa Monica Pier that should be collected and properly disposed of by the City of Santa Monica but since the City does not have anyone bother to walk the beach near the water's edge, this debris and other #beachtrash remains along the shoreline and continues to threaten public health and safety.

It's been only FOUR (4) days since the annual California Coastal Clean Up Day this past Saturday, Sept. 16th and already there is #beachtrash accumulating near the water's edge that the City of Santa Monica refuses to daily hand pick and dispose of properly...

Above and below, a dead bird carcass remains near the water's edge at Bay St. and adjacent to lifeguard tower 20...

Below, a surfer exits the water...  Too bad the City of Santa Monica does not appreciate this beautiful natural resource and fulfill its obligation to daily clean up #beachtrash near the water's edge...

Above and below, the line is clearly drawn in the sand where the City tractors towing the rakes reach in terms of how close they get to the water's edge.  As these photos show, there is close to 75 yards of sand closest to the water's edge where the tractors do not ordinarily operate. It is this area of sand closest to the water's edge that is NOT daily hand picked or otherwise removed of #beachtrash daily by the City of Santa Monica, even though this is precisely where most beach patrons congregate.

The 3 images immediately below show the border area with Venice where the City tractors turn around and head back toward the Santa Monica Pier.

THE PROBLEM REMAINS that the City of Santa Monica does not have ANYONE walk the beach near the water's edge on a daily basis and hand pick up #beachtrash that accumulates there...

An intentional decision has been made by the City of Santa Monica NOT to hand pick up #beachtrash near the water's edge on a daily basis, even though on at least two separate occasions the City has represented otherwise.

MODELO® remains the most popular beer brand to end up as #beachtrash along the shoreline of Santa Monica State Beach...

Yep, you guessed it, a discarded glass bottle of MODELO®...

The City of Santa Monica continues to misrepresent that it's staff daily hand picks up #beachtrash near the water's edge along Santa Monica State Beach.  These photos, however, prove once again that the City is NOT daily hand picking up #beachtrash near the water's edge, the failure of which continues to threaten public health and safety.  And all because the City is too lazy to assign even ONE PERSON to actually walk along the shoreline and hand pick up #beachtrash daily near the water's edge.

To make matters worse, the State of California (Calif. State Parks) is on specific notice of this ongoing failure by the City, and as a result thereof, the State is complicit in this continuing threat to public health and safety.

Santa Monica State Beach is NOT a clean beach!...  Shame on the City of Santa Monica and the State of California.
