#Diaper Watch - Day 3 at Santa Monica State Beach

Dateline: Saturday, April 8, 2017 at approx. 1:15 pm, I discovered the same soiled and used diaper next to the world famous Santa Monica Pier.  This diaper has now been here for 3 days running with no collection and/or disposal of same by the City of Santa Monica.  This is because the City of Santa Monica does not either daily or regularly collect and/or dispose of #beachtrash near the water's edge.

Families, children and members of the general public gather here to enjoy the beach and this is what they have to share the shoreline with...  a used and soiled diaper, empty beer cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles, etc...

Meanwhile the City of Santa Monica does collect its exorbitant beach parking fees seven days a week...  with the collection of revenue obviously being more important to the City of Santa Monica than the health and safety of the public.

The lack of civic integrity and the failure to daily and/or regularly clean up and remove the #beachtrash near the water's edge is a deliberate decision made by the City of Santa Monica and represents a potentially substantial liability risk for the City.

Respectfully submitted,

William Maguire,
Santa Monica business owner
