Under The Santa Monica Pier: Beach Trash Report, Tuesday, July 11, 2017

The world famous Santa Monica Pier at right...
Under the Santa Monica Pier...

Dateline: Tuesday, July 11, 2017, under the Santa Monica Pier.  Ever wonder what it looks like UNDER the Santa Monica Pier.  Do you think that the City of Santa Monica cleans up the #beachtrash which accumulates there on a daily basis?  Do you think that the City cleans up the #beachtrash under the Pier EVERY DAY?...

Turns out that the City does NOT clean up the #beachtrash EVERY DAY under the Santa Monica Pier.  Nevertheless, there is a City department that is supposed to do so and yet they just don't do it.

Here are the photos of the horrendous amount of #beachtrash under the pier, including glass bottles, plastic bottles, broken glass bottles, etc. et al...  So much #beachtrash it is mind blowing!

How about this broken glass bottle that a beach patron could easily step on just a few feet from the sunlight on the south side of the Santa Monica Pier and below the tide line where many people walk barefoot.

It is obvious that someone is not doing the job that they are paid to do and are expected to undertake, perform and complete. In this case, they are not even starting to do so.

This is the TRUTH of the matter.  The City of Santa Monica is intentionally omitting to do the beach clean up work that they are obligated to do per the Operating Agreement with the State of California (Calif. State Parks).  As such, the State of Calif. should strip the City of its right to collect beach parking revenues until such time as the City DAILY cleans up the #beachtrash, natural debris, etc. under the pier and on the Santa Monica State Beach near the water's edge ON BOTH SIDES of the pier and within the boundaries of the City of Santa Monica.
