Monday Afternoon, Oct. 17, 2016: Santa Monica Beach Trash Report

Dateline: Monday afternoon at approximately 2 pm, Oct. 17, 2016... from the deck of the Santa Monica Pier looking down on the south side of said pier and toward the first lifeguard tower #16...  Look carefully and you can see all the #beachtrash neglected by the City of Santa Monica along the high tide line separately the wet sand from the soft dry sand.....  It is OBVIOUS that no one from the City has walked along the water's edge to the berm along the beach and hand picked up any trash.  We can see paper cups, aluminum cans and bottles, plastic and paper products, etc...

See for yourself, here are the photos:

The City of Santa Monica continues not to hand pick up the trash along the shoreline between the high tide line and the water's edge.  This is no longer an issue of neglect, in my opinion, but is instead an intentional decision not to collect and/or otherwise dispose of #beachtrash by the City of Santa Monica Sanitation Dept.  This is an issue of potential liability for the City as well.

Respectfully submitted,

William Maguire,
Santa Monica, Calif.
