Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016: Santa Monica Beach Trash Report...

Dateline: Wednesday morning, Oct. 12, 2016 at and after 10 a.m. along the beach between the Santa Monica Pier and Ocean Park and back.....

Below, this area below the Santa Monica Pier was full of trash yesterday... so this is a good start and we are pleased to report that the trash was cleaned up... by whom we do not know, however...

As we get closer to the water line, though, some of the same #beachtrash from yesterday is seen...

Below, same #beachtrash including used/soiled diapers observed yesterday...

Used diaper discarded and observed yesterday as well under the Pier and just a few feet from the water line...

Below, maybe the City of Santa Monica should put this photo in their Visitor's guide.....

Let's all thank Sydney for leaving her Starbucks Venti beverage container at the beach...

Below, the same blue cup observed yesterday!...

Below, this water logged cushion was observed yesterday under the pier adjacent to the used diaper shown above.... now this cushion is a bit further down the beach due to the tide, no doubt... No one from the City of Santa Monica has bothered to hand pick it or otherwise dispose of it to date!...
I am not sure how we can couch, er, cushion, the implication of civic neglect here...

Weight for it!... a dumbbell left in the sand.....

Below, the paper plate at right was also observed yesterday...

Below, this same glass bottle of HENRY'S Hard Soda was observed yesterday morning on the beach in the same area!...

Remarkably, below, is the same discarded pack of MAVERICK cigarettes that we first observed over a week ago and previously chronicled in several of our earlier photo audits!...

We pause a moment to take in the stunning view of the beach looking toward Venice...

... as well as in the direction of the Santa Monica Pier.....

... an empty glass bottle of wine near Lifeguard Tower #18 near the Pico-Kenter Storm Drain...

... and the label re same.....

Below, we stuck said wine bottle in the sand by its neck beside Lifeguard Tower #18... Let's see how long it stays there before "anyone" disposes of it.....  Chances are it won't be by the City of Santa Monica, that's for sure.....

Below, this apparently discarded pair of shoes was observed yesterday.....

Below, a glass pint bottle of POPOV® vodka half buried in the wet sand......

... and which we stuck in one of the shoes below... from the same pair shown above. Let's see how long this stays here without collection by the City of Santa Monica.....

NOW That's A Nice Camera set up, below!...

Below, the shoe insole pads were also observed yesterday in this same area and remain uncollected by the City of Santa Monica.....

This paper Coca-Cola cup was also observed and photographed yesterday in this same area.....

Disgusting!... Below is apparently the same used condom observed and photographed yesterday... either that or this is a busy place at nite.....

Below, this plastic bottle of Perry's water was also observed and photographed yesterday...

Below, this same orange was observed yesterday and it appears the local birds have checked it out since.....

*** The very same discarded can of Heineken beer from yesterday remains on the beach uncollected by the City of Santa Monica.....

Same GATORADE® bottle label as yesterday still sits partially buried in the sand.....

On our return trip to our starting point, we observe a new paper cup left behind by the falling tide.... now there is a nice tourist photo for the Chamber of Commerce, eh?!...

And there's that cushion again...  Bet this doesn't show up in the City of Santa Monica's Twitter feed.....

How come the tourist photos and visitor's guides don't show all of this #beachtrash in Santa Monica immediately adjacent to the World Famous "Santa Monica Pier"?!...

Last but not least, below is a link to a two (2) minute video featuring the #beachtrash observed adjacent to the Santa Monica Pier..... perhaps this moving picture documentary will persuade the City to actually clean up the #beachtrash along the water line.....

#BeachTrash At The Santa Monica Pier: The Video

===

It continues to amaze me that the City of Santa Monica does not pick up the trash along the water line, in spite of our repeated and regular photo audits that show a clear pattern of neglect and the failure by the City of Santa Monica to hand pick up the trash between the water line and the berm.

Why does the City of Santa Monica continue to promote tourism and avoid cleaning up the beach along the water line.  Doing so is certainly inconsistent, in my opinion.

Apparently, I care more about a clean beach than the City of Santa Monica.
