Dateline: Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016 along the beach between the Santa Monica Pier and Ocean Park and back... the photos of the abundance of #beachtrash left uncollected by the City of Santa Monica Sanitation Dept... which continues unabated.....
It's really hard to imagine that if, in fact, the City of Santa Monica's Sanitation Dept. has a staff that hand picks up trash along the water line that they would miss this #beachtrash left behind yesterday, in the photo below..... That's quite a publicity shot, eh?!... Welcome to Santa Monica.....
Below, at left is the same discarded MAVERICK cigarette pack that has been there on the beach since at least this past Monday!... further evidence of the fact that no one from the City is walking the beach along the shoreline hand picking up trash!... At right is a SUPERMAN® hat... unfortunately, even Superman can't clean up this #beachtrash.....
All the photos above were taken between the Santa Monica Pier and Lifeguard Tower #24, a distance of approx. 3/4 mile. We continued on to Venice and walked back about 3 hours later. The photos below were taken between approximately 12:40 and 1 pm between Lifeguard Tower #18 at Bay St. and the Santa Monica Pier and which show that the #beachtrash has not as yet been picked up by the City of Santa Monica and has been left there for beach patrons to have to see and try to avoid.....
Below, this stuffed toy bear has passed out because there is so much #beachtrash... :-)
Oh look!... a couple of plastic plates... How fortunate, now the City has something to serve up its #beachtrash on for a photo opp... :-)
It remains confounding and astonishing that the City of Santa Monica does not hand pick up the #beachtrash along the shoreline of its beaches that it so heavily touts and promotes to visitors. To make matters worse, the City has gone on record as stating that it does, in fact, have staff that hand picks up the #beachtrash along the shoreline..... though our multiple audits show that this is a misrepresentation.
