Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016: Santa Monica Beach Trash Report

Dateline: Tuesday morning at and after 9:40 a.m. along the beach in Santa Monica, Calif. between the Santa Monica Pier and Ocean Park and back.....

We began our walk and right off noticed a woman in the distance at center frame walk up from the shoreline with a bag full of trash and dump it in a nearby trash can (see photos below)...  A guardian angel and Good Samaritan, as it turns out...

Below, a close up of the Good Samaritan on her way back to the shoreline to pick up more #beachtrash...

Below are photos of #beachtrash that I observed and which was not collected by the Good Samaritan under and immediately adjacent to the Santa Monica Pier...

Again, the Good Samaritan below at just right of center frame dropping off yet another bag full of #beachtrash adjacent to Lifeguard Tower #16 directly next to the Santa Monica Pier...

Below are three (3) photos of some of the #beachtrash collected by the anonymous Good Samaritan...

The balance of the photos below show #beachtrash uncollected by the anonymous Good Samaritan above, as well as uncollected by the City of Santa Monica, that I observed past Lifeguard Tower #16 on my way along the shoreline to Ocean Park.....

This photo below is a really powerful image in terms of illustrating the lack of effort by the City of Santa Monica to clean up the #beachtrash between the water line and the berm...

A display of discarded bottle caps, etc. next to Lifeguard Tower #26 at Ocean Park prepared by the undersigned in just a few minutes this morning...

This last photo from the berm at the outfall of where the Pico-Kenter storm drain lies shows exactly the line where the City of Santa Monica's gas driven vehicles with rakes ends, e.g., to the right on the soft sand at the top of the berm to the back of the beach is the area of the beach that gets cleaned.  The area to the left from the berm to the water line DOES NOT GET CLEANED and DOES NOT GET HAND PICKED by the City of Santa Monica Sanitation Dept. as our multiple audits and blog posts reveals to be the truth.

A line has been drawn in the sand, both literally and figuratively in Santa Monica.  Along the soft dry sand to the back of the beach the City cleans the sand of trash.  Along the water line to the berm, however, it is a different story altogether and beach goers are left to have to contend with an abundance of #beachtrash that the City ignores and does not hand pick.

In conclusion, today's Santa Monica Beach Trash Report illustrates the absolutely abhorrent abundance of #beachtrash on the beach this morning uncollected by the City of Santa Monica, including a great many plastic and glass bottles...
